JoongAng daily published an interesting English article about tattoos on March 16: Fighting for art on a natural canvas.

As you may be aware, getting tattoos in parlors is currently illegal in Korea, where they’re considered a medical procedure that should only be done by doctors. The article outlines the efforts of the Korean Tattoo Association to regulate tattooing in Korea. The association was founded in 2007, after a revision to medical laws that would make tattoos legal was proposed by the Ministry for Health, Welfare and Family Affairs. The revision was scrapped and the tattooist who appealed to the Constitutional Court lost the case, but it inspired Lee Rang, another tattoo artist, to create the KTA.

The article mentions G-Dragon by name, but of course it’s an issue that also affects many other YG artists – the four members of 1TYM, Se7en, Hyun Suk, Eun Joo, Perry, Skull, Kush, Masta Wu and DM all have tattoos. The negative way in which body art is perceived in Korea has forced some of them to hide their tattoos and piercings (ear piercings too, way back in the day!) when they appeared on certain networks.

Look at him! ‘ *Milan is saying silently ‘That’s what we’ve seen today…’ * Then she continues: ‘You have become so famous that even in Asia they are copying the way you look. I guess you’ve already seen it’.

Milan starts talking : ‘Yes,I’ve seen it,but I think that they are way ahead of us. They are way ahead of Europe. I’m glad, although it is funny, we do look alike a lot…’ Then the host says: ‘Hair style and that?’,and Milan responses with : ‘I think he looked like that only because of the promotion of his 1st solo album, cause today we were all searching for him on the Internet’ Host says : ‘So,you follow his work?’ He answers with “Today I got informed about him, I think he looks different now. But anyway I find it a good joke!’ ends up laughing.

This is what you can see and hear on this video and this is by far the only official statement that was given by Milan and his production.

Serbian media should have done their research before casually throwing the "copying" accusation. Although I also have a hunch that Milan did know about GD prior to this and even seems to be a fan. Just imagine the hate mail coming his way. Poor boy, he probably didn't know the amount of crazy in what he got himself into.

The day of unfair contracts seems to be coming to an end judging from this latest development regarding U-Kiss member, Kevin. With regards to the unfair contract that Kevin had signed with his former agency, XING Entertainment, the courts has ruled in favour of the former.

Months earlier, a new law had been passed pertaining to celebrities which ruled that that if a contract is too long or unfair in terms of the income and the amount of work someone does, the contract will be terminated.

U-Kiss’s Kevin is supposedly one of the beneficiaries of this new ruling that was passed recently. The high court announced, “His previous company made a 10-year contract with Kevin and now the contract has been terminated.” The court awarded the case to Kevin over XING Entertainment, his former company.

The court continued, “A 10-year contract is too long. It’s wrong in the context of social order. XING Entertainment was trying to keep Kevin under them for so long and they were taking rights from him. His profit was also unfairly divided.”

His contract stated:
-If albums sold over 500,000 copies, he could get 50000000 won ($44,000).
-If single albums sold over 500,000 copies, he could get 25000000 won ($22,000).
-If albums sold over 1,000,000 copies, he could earn 100000000 won ($88,000).

Most artists in Korea do not even sell over 100,000 copies of their albums, so this was a long shot. Kevin was living under an unfair contract at the time and luckily he is out of it now. Let’s just hope he has a better one with U-Kiss’s company, NH Media.

Hangeng, the leader of the hugely popular boy group, Super Junior-M (SJ-M) and member of Korean group Super Junior, is currently in a lawsuit to end his contract with his management company, SM.

Many rumors regarding Hangeng’s next move have surfaced. Rednet, Sina, and other media recently reported that an online blogger revealed that Hangeng had already signed on with eeMedia to form a new idol group called, “SD5 Xing Tang” (SD5行堂). ( Read more... )
